HOW ARE WE DOING?
CPPC Seeks Citizen Input
for Community Involvement Process
By Doreen Cudnik
Executive Director, Community Police Partnering Center
Over the past seven years, the Community Police Partnering Center (CPPC) has worked with Cincinnati citizens in a variety of ways through CPOP (Community Problem Oriented Policing) and CeaseFire, our gun violence reduction initiative in Avondale. While many of you know the Partnering Center and our work, you may not be familiar with the “official” mission of the CPPC. It is:
In partnership with community stakeholders and members of the Cincinnati Police Department, the Community Police Partnering Center will develop and implement effective strategies to reduce crime and disorder while facilitating positive engagement and increased trust between the police and neighborhoods.
We have implemented this mission by working with citizens and the police to reduce crime and improve neighborhood safety through training, engaging, and supporting citizens as they work with police to address recurring problems. Some of these CPOP problem solving initiatives have been successful in decreasing open air drug dealing, finding solutions to address repeat domestic violence incidents, reducing residential burglaries, and have addressed many other problems.
As we continue our efforts to facilitate problem solving teams involving citizens & police, this work obviously would not be possible without that ever-important first “C” in CPOP - the countless community volunteers who give of their time and talent to work on problem solving teams with police, business owners, social service agencies and other stakeholders to reduce crime and improve overall safety in their communities.
In an effort to always improve upon the quality and delivery of our services to the communities we serve, the CPPC is seeking input from the individuals with whom we work. This information will provide us with useful feedback about how we’re doing, what we’re doing well, and what can be improved upon or modified to provide even greater value to the community.
To facilitate this Community Involvement Process, a survey has been developed and is available HERE on our website at www.cpopcenter.org. Please take a moment to complete the survey. For those who do not have access to the Internet, please call our office at 513-559-5450, and we will be happy to provide you with a hard copy of the survey and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Results of these citizen surveys will then be shared in future issues of the CPPC Quarterly Newsletter.
The CPPC remains committed to delivering positive results in crime and violence reduction in Cincinnati’s communities. We greatly value the partnerships that have been built over the years and welcome the opportunity to speak with our community partners about your ideas, concerns, and ways in which the Partnering Center can be of assistance in your neighborhood.
Should you have any questions relating to this Community Involvement Process, or the work of the Community Police Partnering Center, it would be my pleasure to talk with you. I can be reached by phone at 513.559.5587 (office); 513.602.7029 (mobile); or via email at dcudnik@gcul.org. We look forward to working with you throughout the remainder of this year and beyond to make our neighborhoods safer places in which to live, work, worship and play!
