How to Get Involved
Shooting Responses
After every shooting resulting in death in Avondale, CeaseFire organizes a public demonstration to call attention to the shooting and to encourage a nonviolent response. They involve prayer, testimony of affected parties, and community engagement. Please call or sign up for our mailing list to learn more about shooting responses and how to participate.
Stop the Violence Youth Groups
The Partnering Center is organizing three “stop the violence” youth groups in Avondale, Walnut Hills, and Over the Rhine. They will include youth ages 14 18 and will focus on strategies in which youth can prevent violence. Topics will include:
- The Effects of Gun Violence
- Hope to Cope after a Shooting
- Perception & Aggression: How We Perceive Things That Can Result in Violence
- The Use of Art to Spread the Message of Peace and Nonviolence
Please call if you would like to join the Youth Group or to volunteer.
CeaseFire Assemblies
CeaseFire also organizes school assemblies to spread our message and to assist youth who want to reduce violence in their communities. The content of the assemblies includes the stories of both a woman who was shot and paralyzed sixteen years ago with the man who shot her. They both share from their personal experiences about the consequences of gun violence, forgiveness, and survival. Assemblies are facilitated by rap artist, K-Drama.
If you are affiliated with a school, youth group, or nonprofit organization that serves young people, we are happy to work with you.
